about

2 year old idea finding new words and new voices. Homerecorded and worked upon for a month and three days.
Kindly consider the lyrics and consider the lyrics kindly.

lyrics

Maghreb.
Round and round and round and round and round is where I get my kicks,
in amber lights in orange nights in sounds of cheers and laughter,
Of kissing couples, lying lads, forgotten days and empty beds,
And you my friend might not have seen the flaw in this, the flaw is me.

I played the game so well, too well to see the steady change of rules.
How young is old, how old is dead, how dead is yet forgotten.
And every fool is full of freedom “Oh freedom, freedom, what a word”.
It makes it easier to stand for us without a deity.

And so I took my bags and wrote a note to whom it may concern,
To those in charge of everything and everything unnoticed.
I will be back
I will be safe
I will be sane or so I hope

On and on and on I went to find my own gharaba.
Where nothing would remind me of - oh by the way of what? Anyway,
in the fields of haze I found a city oh so blue and free,
And all the stars were closer there, so close, too close to touch.

Then I really got the world or well that’s what I thought i would,
First time ever Scorpion was up above and in me.
And in the air the ancient songs of one true god and god alone,
But I found something different there that I since then forgot.

So was it worth it or have all the night delights betrayed me?
Heading back to munich now I know that I know nothing.
But it’s good to be
And it’s good to sing
And it’s good to mean it
and we might sing in confusion and decay
(gharaba (‏غرب, ‘to depart, withdraw’)

thanks and sorry to: magic delphin, tsatr, season of plenty, penny, ojm, testpeople and suse for the saddest cow on earth.
At the beginning, there’s the voice of a said sad cow, stuck inside a tiny wooden toy.
The end is the taperecorder i used in the process of what I call i-don’t-know-what-i-am-doing-but-lets-put-high-and-low-frequencies-up-and-use-a-limiter (they call it mastering. The original taperecording with 4,5 is in there, a little bit timestretched to fit, for the taperecorder is a mess and yadel yadel yadel.)
cover photo: dominik freunberger
inspiration: obviously Gorillaz, some Manu Chao, Bob Dylan, Led Zeppelin (claps at the end of boogie with stu) and of course the great country of morocco and the city oh so blue and free.
(and all i forgot)
